Eddie Shaw opens Cabanas Saturday Night for more blues. Shaw on tenor and alto saxes and marmonica is a very talented singer/songwriter, musician, arranger and band leader. Muddy Waters was so impressed with Shaw that he offered him a full time job in his world-renowned Chicago band. Eddie distinguished himself as an innovative player and fiery performer before shocking some of the blues establishment by joining Howlin Wolf's ferocious live band. His vocals the mixture of country blues tradition and electrified urban aesthetic that Howlin' Wolf championed. He stayed with Wolf until he died in 1976 rising to the position of bandleader and manager. In the 60s and 70s during the blues revival Eddie Shaw was a focal point and is one of the most respected blues musicians alive today. His band Eddie Shaw and the Wolf Gang have performed in every state and over a dozen foreign countries...from Carnegie Hall to small clubs in Chicago and for JFK's inauguration. They are considered one of the premier Chicago blues bands performing today. |
