Andrew Jr. Boy Jones and his Blues Band will open up "...More Blues" in Cabanas Friday night. It has been said that Jr. Boy and his band are capable of unleashing some of the most polished, articulate, tasty and diverse blues of any quartet currently touring the continent. Jones was a sideman for many years with many of the blues greats. He met harmonica player Charlie Musselwhite who persuaded him to stay on in California and join his band. He played guitar with Musselwhite from the early 1980s through the 1990s and did some extensive world touring with the harmonica master. The band won the W.C. Handy Award for Best Blues Band in 1995. He returned to home in Dallas in the mid 1990s and accompanied R.L. Griffin, Hal Harris and the Lowlifers and others. Jr. Boy formed his own band as lead singer and playing guitar. His sound, enthusiasm and spirit led to his nomination of the W.C. Handy Best New Artist. |
