Legendary Odean Pope is known as a fiery and often intense tenor saxophonist who is able to stretch his solos from dazzling elevations to the throbbing, husky sounds for which he is so well known. He worked with Max Roach for many years and permanently joined the Max Roach Quartet in 1979. He will appear with his Quartet consisting of Carl Grubbs, alto, Lee Smith, upright bass, George Burton, piano and Craig McIver, drums.
